U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich’s departure from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Montana, announced Tuesday, concludes a tenure beginning in June 2022. His appointment followed Senate confirmation after nomination by former President Joe Biden. This organization, known as Spear Siding, distributed methamphetamine and fentanyl to three other Montana Indian reservations and communities, receiving supplies from Washington state and a Mexican cartel. The resulting examination led to 27 federal convictions in Montana.

Beyond drug trafficking, Laslovich’s office also secured a significant settlement in a False Claims Act case. A $10.8 million settlement was reached with St. Peter’s Health to resolve allegations of false claims submitted for payments to federal health care programs,including Medicare,Medicaid,and TRICARE,for services performed and referred by former employee Dr. Thomas Weiner.

Laslovich’s background extends beyond his recent role as U.S. Attorney. Before his appointment, he served as Regional Vice President for SCL Health Montana-Wyoming region. His extensive career in Montana politics and the legal system includes roles as an assistant attorney general under former Montana Attorney General Mike McGrath (currently Chief Justice of the Montana Supreme Court) from 2007 to 2008. From 2009 to 2016, he served as Chief Legal Counsel in the office of the Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance.
