Lashenko: Mr Infantino welcomed how good we are

During the conversation, the consequences and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the course of football at all levels were discussed, as well as the issues relevant to each federation on domestic farms. Representatives of the federations also highlighted from their point of view the important aspects of football development on which to continue working.

Vadim Lashenko informed the President of FIFA that the grateful health situation in our country and the activities of the LFF have already allowed us to successfully complete the indoor football championship, resume competitions for adults, youth and children, as well as successfully ensure compliance with all sanitary requirements. “Compared to situations in other countries, Latvia has a very stable and grateful situation both in the activities of the federation and in the country. Mr Infantino also welcomed our good situation. Against the background of the world, Latvia can provide quite unique opportunities to gather up to three thousand people outdoors, so on behalf of the LFF I emphasized that if necessary, Latvia is ready to safely host a neutral match or a conference, ”said Vadim Lashenko about the course of the conversation.

Mr. Infantino was pleasantly surprised that the Latvian women’s team is already taking part in international testing games (August 12 against Estonia), that Latvian youth teams are also participating in training camps, which in other associations tend to remain in the shadow of key national units in these challenging times. The President of FIFA has praised the courageous path chosen by the Latvian and Estonian federations, gradually returning football to the usual tracks and respecting all the necessary safety measures.

The leaders of the Lithuanian, Estonian, Israeli, Romanian, Slovak and Polish football federations, as well as representatives of UEFA also took part in the conversation. Such talks with the leaders of the national associations in groups J. Infantino has started recently and said we appreciate the new opportunities to communicate with members more often and productively, with an in-depth understanding of the issues. Online communication without the need for overflights allows FIFA’s long-standing desire to involve its members or national association leaders more closely in its decision-making.
