The same goes for measles, which has 47 percent coverage in boosters.

The Departmental Health Service (Headquarters) began the campaign at the Antofagasta health center, where the authorities indicated that the 14 vaccines included in the regular scheme are available.

The Headquarters Director, Julio César Kocastressed that it is intended to complete the vaccination doses to 94,226 children, between April 17 and May 14. The vaccines will be available in all health centers in the department and brigades will also be mobilized to homes.

The Municipal Government promotes this campaign with incentives for children to get vaccinated. The goal is to exceed 80% coverage in the population under five years of age, mainly against measles, rubella and poliomyelitis.

Adriana Amelunge, municipal secretary of Health, informed that in this campaign more than 780 people will be mobilized, who will be distributed in 390 mobile brigades in the 15 municipal districts.

“They will work house to house looking for families who have children under five years of age without vaccinations. The doses to be administered will be against poliomyelitis, measles and rubella, among others that are within the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI), explained Amelunge.

He recalled that although this campaign is carried out every year, this time more emphasis will be placed on completing vaccination schedules for children, those who plan to encourage them with gifts and costumes.

For her part, the interim mayor, Gabriela Garzón, added that this campaign is being carried out in coordination with the sub-mayors and health networks.

They also call on parents to have girls vaccinated against the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and for people to come to receive the covid and influenza vaccine.
