Warendorf (pw) – That was probably nothing with the coal and the ticket for the fifth continent: Lars Tönsfeuerborn (30), who grew up in Warendorf, missed the qualification for participation in the “jungle camp 2022” in Australia on Friday evening.
In the final of the preliminary rounds of the “jungle show” of the television station RTL, he was eliminated in front of an audience of millions. In the end of the audience voting, it was only fourth.
In an official statement distributed by RTL, he said that despite his departure, he was proud to have “come so far” in the two weeks in the television studio in Cologne-Hürth. He is sticking to his goal of eventually getting “to Australia” after all.

Nevertheless, he said with visible disappointment that “otherwise my TV reality career is over”.
Quite a few Warendorfers who watched the final fights on Friday evening shortly before midnight should breathe a sigh of relief. In particular, those who are not part of the regular audience of such trash TV productions, but wanted to see how their local hero does, will hardly have come out of the incredulous astonishment: Why the hell does an audience of millions delight in such casting shows with considerable disgust potential?
However, the question also arises as to why people are not too good to apply for such formats as candidates. This question arises in particular for Lars Tönsfeuerborn, who among the four finalists from Friday evening was probably most likely to appear as “normal”, as the “boy next door”. After all, he has become known as an entrepreneur and podcaster through his mission, with which he advocates more social acceptance for people with different sexual orientations such as homosexuals, transgender and bisexual.
Was his participation and his victory in the gay dating show “Prince Charming” on RTL specialty channel “TV Now” in autumn 2019 (“Die Glocke” reported) a consistent attempt to use his own podcast (“schwanz & ehrlicher” ) In addition to popularizing the topic to a larger TV audience, the question arises whether he was actually doing himself, his kind and his mission a favor by showing it on the “jungle show”. In his official statement distributed by RTL on Saturday, he sees it this way: “I was able to be there for the community and I was able to advance my topic with mental health.” Otherwise, he was “just proud to have been there”.
