The 45-year-old police officer who shot and killed a 20-year-old man in the village of Moschohori outside Larissa, after a chase, is being brought before the prosecutor and then the investigator today.
The policeman has been detained since yesterday, but ELAS confirmed the incident in a statement yesterday, but did not provide details on the circumstances of the cold-blooded shooting.
However, more information is expected to be provided by the forensic examination which, according to onlarissa.gris expected to take place this afternoon.
According to the same source, the 20-year-old tried to escape on foot with the 45-year-old policeman following him in the yard of the single-family house and in the attempt to cross the fence of the bahce, under circumstances that have not been clarified, the 45-year-old shot the 20-year-old, once, injuring killing him.
The police officer allegedly attributed the shooting to an “accident”, while as he said he did not understand how his service weapon went off.
Today he is expected to be charged with the exact charges by the Criminal Prosecutor of Larisa.
It is recalled that according to the police, the 20-year-old was driving a stolen vehicle and “in order to escape, he developed further speed, exited the National Highway and moved on the provincial road to Moschohori, at the entrance of which he lost control of the vehicle, hit a house wall and stopped.
He then got out of the vehicle and ran away, however one of the police officers, under circumstances that are being investigated, used a weapon resulting in the injury of the person in the ribs.
An ambulance station was called to the scene, but, despite resuscitation efforts, the person died.”
