A couple of days ago, Baldur’s Gate 3 writer Adam Smith delighted the player community with extremely ambitious plans to support the game, which will continue into next year. During the live broadcast, he managed to hint at new races, game elements and so much more that many began to doubt his words. It seems that the screenwriter did not completely deceive the players, but he definitely exaggerated the plans of the Larian studio for post-release support. The head of the developers, Sven Vincke, decided to intervene in the situation.
In a conversation with IGN, game designer Sven Vincke confirmed that Larian Studios will continue to work on updates for Baldur’s Gate 3 next year. The developers plan to actively support the game at least throughout 2024. As Vincke noted, he and the team are already working on another project, but most of the employees remain on Baldur’s Gate 3.
The studio reportedly doesn’t have any specific plans for anything new in Baldur’s Gate 3. Larian isn’t keen on mindlessly adding or radically changing anything, as it could lead to serious technical problems due to the scale of the project. Updates in 2024 will mainly focus on bug fixes and overall improvements to the game. We definitely shouldn’t expect news from the developers in the near future; they are going on winter holidays, but at the beginning of the year we can hear a more detailed plan for supporting the game.
