Largest number of corona patients dead (16) since May, 2,552 positive tests | NOW

The number of positive corona tests in the Netherlands has increased by 2,552 in the past 24 hours, according to data from the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) on Thursday afternoon. 25 new hospitalizations and 16 corona-related deaths have also been recorded.

The number of corona patients who died is the largest number of deaths recorded since May 30, according to the data of the RIVM. In the past seven days, more than 15,000 people have been tested positive for the corona virus.

On Wednesday, 2,357 new positive tests and 32 admissions were added. The number of deaths then increased by five.

The increase was greatest in the Rotterdam-Rijnmond region. The number of positive tests there increased by 417, including 248 cases in the municipality of Rotterdam itself.

Another 294 cases came to light in Amsterdam-Amstelland. Of these, 251 have been established in the municipality of Amsterdam. The Haaglanden region registered 249 new positive tests and the province of Utrecht 222.

Not all of these corona patients have tested positive, been hospitalized, or died in the past week. Sometimes the data is not passed on until later. The actual number of infections is also probably higher, because not everyone with complaints can be tested.
