Authority Singapore confiscated assets worth 2.8 billion dollars or the equivalent of IDR 43.6 trillion after uncovering the case money laundering.
Singapore’s Second Minister for Home Affairs, Josephine Teo, told members of the legislature that this was the largest money laundering eradication operation in the history of the Lion Country.
This money laundering case itself is a follow-up to the development of online fraud and gambling cases that were previously uncovered by the Singapore authorities.
What assets were confiscated?
Quoted from The Straits Times, These assets include 152 properties and 62 vehicles with an estimated value of more than 1.24 billion dollars or around IDR 18.7 trillion.
Apart from that, there is also money in bank accounts amounting to more than 1.45 billion dollars or the equivalent of IDR 22.6 trillion and cash in various currencies worth more than 76 million dollars or the equivalent of IDR 1.1 trillion.
Other items include thousands of bottles of liquor and wine, cryptocurrency worth more than $38 million, 68 gold bars, 294 luxury bags, 164 branded watches and 546 pieces of jewelry.
According to Teo, there may still be more assets confiscated in this operation.
These confiscated items have begun to be confiscated since the Singapore authorities carried out raids in stages since mid-August.
This case itself shocked the public because Lion Country is known as a country with a very low crime rate.
