Largest house price increase in twenty years | Financial

This has been announced by the Central Bureau of Statistics and the Land Registry. House prices rose less rapidly in 2019, but since 2020 – in the middle of the corona crisis – the price increase has picked up sharply. In July 2021, house prices were at their all-time high.

According to figures from the Land Registry, the number of transactions is declining. In July 19,043 homes were sold, almost 16% less than last year.

At the start of the corona crisis, economists were still concerned about the housing market. But in the end it didn’t budge. The housing shortage is so great that prices have continued to rise despite the crisis. Many political parties want to build a million houses in the next ten years to make up for the shortages.
