After the financing climate recovered from the shock of the corona pandemic by the beginning of 2022, the financing environment for companies deteriorated again as a result of the tightening of monetary policy in the wake of the war in Ukraine. Nevertheless, printing and media companies still rate their access to credit as rather good. These results are shown by the company survey conducted by the German Printing and Media Association (BVDM) in cooperation with the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) and 16 other industry and business associations from March to May 2024.

In this year’s survey, printing and media companies rate their access to credit slightly worse than in the 2022 survey, but still as rather good overall. However, there are restrictions for companies with an annual turnover of less than EUR 1 million.

Ratings of printing companies have improved

Overall, the ratings of the companies surveyed have again developed positively on average. The assessments on sustainability that were collected as part of the survey show that sustainability criteria are very important to companies. They are playing an increasing role in loan renegotiations, even if the number of loans with sustainability criteria is currently still relatively low.
