A woman from Meschede was defrauded of a large sum of money by unknown scammers via Messenger WhatsApp. The woman received a WhatsApp yesterday via an unknown phone number. The scammer just wrote “Hi Mom”. The victim then asked which of her children would be her. The scammer replied “guess what”, which the victim then did. The scammer then verified her name and asked the woman to transfer a large sum of money to a specific account. Assuming she wrote to her son of her, the injured party did the same. It wasn’t until later, during a phone call to her real son, that the fraud was noticed. Police advise citizens: be skeptical when receiving WhatsApp messages from unknown senders! If it is not the number you know of your friend or relative, call the person on the number you know. Then the fraud attempt will be resolved quickly! Don’t transfer money to an account number you don’t know! If in doubt, please contact the police !!!
