According to the West police district, it is somewhat uncertain when the man in his 60s left his home, but he is apparently going hunting and is probably alone. He is probably wearing hunting clothes.
– We have found his tractor on a forest road. The man does not have a telephone with him, which of course makes it difficult to contact him, says assignment manager Jørgen Ommedal to TV 2 at 22.30.
A total of 18 volunteers from the Red Cross participated in the search on Wednesday, as well as a total of four dog teams from Norwegian rescue dogs. A rescue helicopter has also been in action.
– The terrain you are looking for is hilly and demanding to get around.
It has also been 3-4 degrees in the area where the search has been going on.
The police state that the search is being continued until midnight. Then the start for a new search is set for Thursday morning at nine o’clock.
– The search will be stepped down throughout the evening. We have an operations manager in place at the search area and a plan will be drawn up tomorrow for further searches, says Ommedal.
The police were informed that the man was missing at 11.58 on Wednesday.
