Various foreign media report this, including Nieuwsblad.
No official explanation has yet been given about the search, but according to local media there is a link with the disappearance of Maddie McCann. Police would search a house in Hanover where the suspect in the disappearance case, Christian Brückner, once lived. The current residents of the house would have nothing to do with the case.
The search was started after a tip was received from a citizen. However, the Daily Mail writes that it is not certain whether the police still believe in that tip. The spokesperson allegedly suggested that the tipster may be investigated for giving a false tip. There would have been doubts about the tip from the beginning, but the police could not just ignore the information.
Disappearance
The British toddler disappeared at the age of three while on holiday with her parents in Praia Da Luz, Portugal in 2007. At the time of the disappearance, her parents were having dinner with some friends down the road.
A few months ago, 43-year-old German Christian Brückner came to the attention of the investigators. The suspect is currently in jail for another conviction. In the weeks after Brückner came into their sights, the police received hundreds of tips. And allotment gardens were dug up in various places in and around Hanover.
