Munich – large-scale operation at Orleansplatz in Haidhausen!
The police are currently there (Friday, June 30, 11 a.m.) on site. The reason: “There were several reports of armed people at Orleansplatz,” said a police spokesman when asked by BILD. The first calls came in around 10:40 a.m.
Many Munich residents were immediately reminded of the terrible rampage at the OEZ in July 2016 that left ten dead. But shortly thereafter, the police gave the all-clear on Twitter: there would be no threat to the population.

Twitter user Saskia Neumann was apparently deployed. She wrote: “Totally scary feeling when you get off the bus and suddenly there are about 8 police officers with MPs standing next to you….. you already know that you shouldn’t be here right now. Hurry to the other bus.”
When asked by BILD, the police spokesman said: “A person was arrested with a pistol.” The person was a younger man, but he had not threatened any passers-by.
Around 11:45 a.m., the police were still busy with the search at Orleansplatz – according to the spokesman, they wanted to make sure whether other people were walking around with apparent or real weapons.
