On behalf of the Darmstadt public prosecutor’s office, the Darmstadt Main Customs Office today (November 16) executed arrest warrants against 2 people aged between 44 and 26 with over 500 emergency services and special units and has raided a total of 35 residential and business premises – mainly in the Frankfurt/Rhine Main metropolitan area.
In the background is an investigation into suspected wage withholding and tax evasion. There is a suspicion that the 44-year-old prime suspect generated black money by buying bills of exchange. The money is said to have been used to pay illegal employees in the security sector who were not registered for Social Security or to fund undisclosed proportionate wages.
Listed at least nine million euros
The amount of any unpaid social security contributions and taxes is the subject of ongoing investigations and cannot be quantified at the moment. According to the preliminary investigations, however, it is assumed that the companies of the 44-year-old defendant have bills of exchange for at least 9 million euros in their balance sheets.
Various weapons seized
During today’s searches, numerous pieces of evidence were seized, in particular on computers, mobile phones and digital data carriers. 18,800 euros were found in a searched property that could not be assigned to any owner. The money was taken into custody by the deployed customs officers. Weapons were also found in several research objects. Includes a scoped crossbow, stun gun, taser, grenade-like object, and various firearms.
