Large operators will not offer an ad skipping package on Prima

Author: Karel Choc

Viewers will probably not be able to pay extra for skipping commercials on Prima TV while watching programs from the archive. This follows from the information of selected operators addressed by the CTK agency. The ad skipping package will not be available at Vodafone, T-Mobile or Telly, for example.

The ad skipping fee was one of the options that Prima offered to operators when negotiating new terms and conditions. The surcharge package would be a special flat rate for customers, but operators feared that their clients would not accept the price. There was talk of up to 89 crowns a month, which is the amount that Prima charges on its website for the iPrima service without ads.

From June onwards, new rules for rewinding advertisements when watching Prima programs will apply to IPTV services and television applications. Ad units may not skip completely; typically this will only be possible after viewing some of the ads. The specific solution may differ for operators. However, no IPTV operator will be able to freely rewind the commercials as before when watching Prima’s programs from the archive.
