Many in Oslo saw the smoke rise from the field. The first reports came in to the police a little over 13.30 on Saturday, and there were many who reported to report.

– We received calls from Vestli, Romsås, Stovner and Gjelleråsen. But the location was so different that it was difficult to find the right place for the fire right away, says operations manager Tor Guldbrandsen at the Oslo police district.

The police searched by helicopter and found the fire site between Romsås and the farm area Bånkall. There is a power street.

– There it burns in an area of 100 to 200 meters. This is located a little in the field, which makes it demanding for the fire service to bring in firefighting resources, says Guldbrandsen.

Ordinary fire trucks do not arrive, but now hoses and equipment have been rolled into the area, and the extinguishing is underway. Both the police and the fire brigade also have helicopters in the air.

– The wind direction is away from the buildings, and there is not much wind. But it is dry in the field now, after a long period of good weather. Therefore, it is important that we put out this fire before it gets the chance to spread, says operations manager.
