The fire was reported around 7 p.m. “A few people present tried in vain to extinguish the fire,” said the fire service spokesman.
The fire brigade quickly scaled up to a ‘very large fire’, which enabled the fight to get underway quickly. The water board opened a dam in the area, so that the adjacent ditch flooded and the fire brigade had more water available for extinguishing.
Part of the barn has been lost. Hay was stored and farm equipment, including tractors, was in it. Some of the equipment could be rescued. There were no animals in the barn.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. The owner was not at his business when the fire broke out. Some explosions were heard, it is not clear where they came from.
