A large fire raged in a motorcycle shop on the Habraken in Veldhoven on Wednesday morning. Large clouds of smoke were released. Because the store is in a multi-company building, the fire threatened to spread to other parts. There was no one in the building during the fire.
The fire started around a quarter to ten. It is still unclear why that happened. The fire brigade was at the fire with three fire trucks to get the fire under control.
The fire was out shortly after midnight. A fire chief says that the building is now mainly ventilated. There is no damage to surrounding buildings.
The company Blauwplaat Motoren sells, maintains and repairs Honda motorcycles from the 1970s and 1980s. The company would be closed until August 28 due to holidays.
Marinus, owner of the business next door, discovered the fire. “I saw smoke coming out of the wall. I have the key, so I opened the door of the motorcycle shop. There I ran into a wall of smoke. It’s a lot of misery.”
