A very large fire has broken out on a business park in Ter Aar, in South Holland. The fire started around 9:30 p.m. in a plastics company, but has since spread to a timber trade.

The fire releases large black clouds of smoke that blow in the direction of Woubrugge, reports Broadcasting West. The smoke can be seen in the wide area. Explosions can also be heard. These are gas cylinders from forklift trucks that explode, a spokesperson for the Hollands Midden Safety Region said.

Due to the explosions, the fire brigade cannot get close to the building, making extinguishing difficult. Spectators are kept away.

The fire service calls on residents to close windows and doors and to switch off mechanical ventilation. It is not clear whether there are still people in the building, which is about 170 by 90 meters in size.
