The fire brigade has been turned out to the Purmerbos due to a very large fire. A spokesman for the security region cannot yet say what exactly is going on. He does emphasize that a large part of the forest area is on fire.
The first report of the fire came in at 8:35 p.m., after which the fire brigade quickly scaled up to get as many vehicles as possible towards the forest. “We are there now,” says the spokesperson. But: “A lot is still not clear.”
The Zaanstreek-Waterland Security Region calls on people not to go to the Purmerbos and to give the emergency services all the space they need. The fire service suspects that this is a ground fire. Special fire whips are used to extinguish this fire.
