On Thursday evening, BA received a tip about crowding outside the Duggfrisk pub on Strandkaien, where many young revelers had gathered inside and outside.
Operations manager in the police, Frode Kolltveit, confirmed that they had received reports from the area and moved out.
– We are on site with several cars. No one needs help, but there is a large crowd, says Kolltveit to BA at midnight.
A tipster BA spoke to outside the nightclub, tells of “scenes of chaos” outside.
– People were desperate to get in. People also got angry when the nightclub closed, claims the tipster.
– Ample atmosphere
Tordis Myrseth, incident leader in the police, explains that there were “extremely many people” when the police arrived at the scene, but that there were no ongoing situations in the form of violence or otherwise.
– There was too much pressure in the queue, and it became unmanageable. It was simply a bit of an amp atmosphere. The club then decided to close operations for today. We came to assist and see that things are going well, she tells BA.
– The closure itself went well, says Myrseth, and praises the pub for making good decisions and notifying the police.
The police have so far not given any reaction in connection with the incident, and no injuries have been reported. However, the police are said to have given certain orders to intoxicated people in the city centre, including expulsion.
