Large Belgian study confirms: children are much less infected at school than at home and rarely become seriously ill

Two things stand out on the graph: very young children were tested more than older children. At the same time, older, tested young people appear to test positive more often. It should be noted, however, that during the first corona wave, much less – about 50 percent less – was tested in children, because it was already clear that they become less often and less seriously ill than adults.

Despite the fact that less was tested on children, it is striking that they also tested much less positive than adults: 1.8 percent of the children tested positive, while that is 6.3 percent in adults. The number of positive tests does increase with the age of the children, but it remains much lower than in adults.
