Only a select number of men and women are accepted into Laredo College’s Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program each year to begin their nursing education, at the top-ranked nursing school in Texas, as named by various websites from classification and medical care.
Next week, 42 first-semester students in the program will begin their classes equipped with the necessary materials to begin their nursing courses after receiving a special kit funded through the $ 1 million gift given by the popular video platform TikTok. at the end of last year as part of the TikTok Health Heroes Relief Fund.
The distribution of the TikTok Health Heroes starter kit took place on Wednesday, August 18 at the College of Health Sciences building located on the south campus of LC. Each student kit is worth approximately $ 750 and includes supplies such as stethoscopes, uniforms, online platform vouchers, and skill kits.
“Nursing education is time intensive and financially expensive,” said Dr. Dianna Miller, Director of Nursing Programs / Dean of Health Sciences. “The TikTok Health Heroes Starter Kit will alleviate a tremendous amount of financial pressure for our incoming students. A less stressful factor is removed so they can spend more time on their studies. I want to thank TikTok for their generous contributions to the success of these health students. “
Laredo College looks forward to continuing these distribution events to provide students with the tools necessary to be successful in their courses. These resources, along with the guidance and instruction of the leading nursing faculty, allow us to continue the legacy of preparing the future health professionals of this region.
