A group of computer hackers who call themselves LAPSUS $ has stolen the source code of Microsoft services, such as Bing and Cortana, and leaked them through his Telegram channel.
Last Sunday, LAPSUS$ published a screenshot through this messaging application in which it claimed to have accessed the Microsoft repositories hacking an Azure DevOps server.
Azure DevOps is a set of tools and services for developers that enables them to collaborate on projects and encourage workflows, whether with a free or paid account, with different subscription services.
As published Motherboard, Microsoft has confirmed that it has started an investigation to determine how this source code theft of your search engine, Bing, and your smart assistant, Cortana.
Specifically, the publication leaked by LAPSUS$ through Telegram -which was deleted shortly after by the group with the promise that it would return “soon” with “more news”- included a file of 483 KB with part of line of code from Bing, Bing Maps and Cortana, according to noted VentureBeat.
This medium has shared a screenshot indicating that the file includes 90 percent of Bing Maps data that the group of scammers claims to have stolen, as well as 45 percent of the data belonging to the search engine and the assistant.
In addition to these two services, as verified in the screenshot leaked by the group of hackers through Telegram, they would have accessed other code repositoriesbecause sections with ‘mscomdev’, ‘microsoft’, and ‘msbox’ nomenclatures are included.
It is not the first large-scale attack starring this group of cybercriminals, since a few weeks ago they stole electronic signature certificates from Nvidia developers to gain access to computer equipment and download malicious software.
Also, days before the theft of internal information was attributed of the Korean technology company Samsung. Specifically, 190 GB of data, which they also shared through Telegram.
