Laporte published a video clip on the “X” platform (formerly Twitter), which he started with clips from the moments he signed his joining contract with City in January 2018 from Athletic Bilbao, and included scenes of his defensive interventions, goals, and title celebrations, accompanied by a farewell message.
“Dear Citizens, today I wanted to share with you a story… It has been an unforgettable five and a half years. So many memories that I will always keep in my heart,” the 29-year-old Frenchman said in the introductory message to the video.
According to several reports, Laporte reached an agreement with Al-Nasr to join his ranks, after he found himself struggling for his position in the squad of Spanish coach Josep Guardiola, in the presence of Dutchman Nathan Ake and Swiss Manuel Akanji, and contracting with Croatian Yosko Gvardiol.
Some reports revealed that Tottenham and Arsenal are interested in including Laporte, but he preferred to join the ranks of those joining the Saudi League this summer, including his colleague in Algerian City, Riyad Mahrez, who moved to Al-Ahly.
Laporte, who won the Premier League five times with City, the domestic cup twice, the League Cup three times and most importantly the Champions League last season before it was followed this summer by the European Super Cup, thanked “everyone who made this journey possible… It was an honor and a pleasure.” To wear these colors (blue and white), and I hope you will remember me well…”
“Thank you again for everything. I wish you the best of luck in the future and I will always follow you guys. Until we meet again.”
And after he surprised the world by including Ronaldo in January, Al-Nasr was active in concluding resounding deals this summer, like many Saudi clubs, strengthening his ranks with Mane from German Bayern Munich, Ivory Coast Siko Fofana from French Lens, Croatian Marcelo Brozovic from Italian Inter, Brazilian Alex Telles from Manchester United, and finally the Portuguese Ottavio from Porto.
