He FC Barcelona has set his sights on Mykhailo Mudryk as a possible addition to reinforce their attack. The Ukrainian, currently in the ranks of Chelseahas been relegated to a supporting role under the direction of Enzo Maresca, who has given preference to other newcomers such as Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho. Given this situation, his departure from the English club seems increasingly likely, which has sparked the interest of several teams, including the Blaugrana team, which sees him as a viable alternative if they fail to close the signing of Nico Williams.
Chelsea invested huge resources to secure Mudryk’s transfer in January 2023, beating Arsenal in the race for the player. However, the winger’s performance has not lived up to expectations during his first months in the Premier League. Despite some initial flashes, his contribution in terms of goals and assists has been limited, which has raised doubts about his continuity in the London team. The recent additions of Neto and Sancho have worsened the situation for the Ukrainian, who has seen his playing time drastically reduced.
Barcelona, led by Hansi Flick, is evaluating its options to strengthen its squad in the upcoming winter transfer window. Nico Williams has long been the main target to occupy the right flank of the attack, but Athletic Club has not facilitated his departure. With the January market approaching, Mudryk has emerged as an interesting option for the Catalans, who consider that the Ukrainian could fit well into their playing system and provide imbalance on the wings.
In addition to Barcelona, other European clubs such as Bayern Munich and Olympique Marseille have also shown interest in Mudryk. However, the Catalan team could try to acquire his services through a loan, given that a permanent transfer for the amount Chelsea paid is unlikely. The English club, for its part, would be willing to listen to offers that would allow it to relieve its workforce and recover part of the investment made.
