The authors of the idea are entrepreneur and primary school teacher Mike and Alison Batley. They felt that the holiday had become too commercialized recently and wanted to ensure the magic of the holiday for their four children. The couple have created a Christmas land called “Lapland UK”, which features wooden elf houses, a hand-painted Bavarian-style toy factory, real reindeer and other Christmas characters.
Visitors have the opportunity to make gifts in the toy shop, listen to the stories of Mrs. Christmas and, of course, visit Santa Claus himself.
The elves, who are the real workers in the magical world, admitted in a conversation with journalists that they had been preparing for Christmas Eve all year long together with the gnomes. They also have assistants, so the work is done according to the schedule.
Open for six weeks every year, Lapland UK has been visited by many celebrities over the years, including the Prince and Princess of Wales with their children, Elton John and the Beckhams.
