Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) Ministry of Finance (Ministry of Finance) mentions PT Minarak Lapindo Jaya send a letter to the Ministry of Finance regarding payment of obligations for government bailout funds in handling the mud case Lapindo in 2006 ago.
In the letter, Lapindo questioned the amount of the bailout debt they had to pay off.
Director General of DJKN, Ministry of Finance, Rionald Silaban, said that his party had replied to the letter. According to him, the value of Lapindo’s debt is equal to the bailout funds issued by the government.
“Indeed, the person concerned has sent a letter related to how they pay off their obligations. Now this is about the value, we have replied that in our opinion it is the value that has been charged to the government that should be the responsibility,” he said in a discussion on the Increase in Fixed Asset Value at LKPP 2020, Friday (16/7).
Unfortunately, Rionald did not specify the amount of Lapindo’s debt. However, data from the Ministry of Finance’s DKJN in April 2021 explained that Lapindo’s debt to the government reached Rp. 773.38 billion.
In the letter, he continued, Lapindo also questioned the process of fulfilling their obligations.
“If Lapindo is indeed the issue, it is how the person concerned over there pays it to the government, that’s what they asked us,” he explained.
“For us, we think that the amount issued by the government is what the government should pay off, of course there are calculations,” continued Rionald.
Previously, the former director general of DJKN at the Ministry of Finance, Isa Rachmatarwata, said that Lapindo wanted to repay the debt by providing company assets in areas affected by the mudflow case.
Therefore, the government records the liabilities and value of the company’s assets. If the assets are not sufficient to cover the debt, DJKN wants the remaining debt to be paid in cash.
“If it’s not enough, they will want another way, one of which is cash payment,” said Isa, some time ago.
