Lao Secretary General and President meets former Vietnamese presidents
General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith held separate meetings with former Vietnamese Presidents Nguyen Minh Triet and Truong Tan Sang in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday, September 12.

The Lao leader recalled memories of his previous meetings with the two former presidents and expressed his hope to welcome them to Laos in the future. He affirmed that Laos will continue, together with Vietnam, to preserve, maintain and pass on the fine tradition of the Vietnam-Laos special relationship to future generations.
He briefed the two former presidents on the recent situation in Laos, highlighted the achievements of Vietnam-Laos cooperation and the results of his discussions with volunteer soldiers, veteran experts, students and younger generations of the two countries in Hanoi.
The Lao General Secretary and President also conveyed warm greetings from former Lao Party and State leaders to former Presidents Nguyen Minh Triet and Truong Tan Sang.
Former Vietnamese presidents expressed their belief that under the wise leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party led by General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, the Lao people will overcome all challenges and achieve even greater successes.
They expressed their belief that Laos will successfully implement the resolution of the 11th National Party Congress and successfully prepare for and hold the 12th National Party Congress.
The former presidents expressed their satisfaction with the achievements of the two parties and countries, noting that the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and Presidents Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong and constantly cultivated by successive generations of leaders and people, has been consolidated and developed over the years.
Affirming that the Lao leader’s visit would further deepen the special bilateral relations, they expressed their wish and belief that the special solidarity between the two nations would develop to new heights. They also extended greetings to former key leaders of the Lao Party and State.
