Langweid: Companies are tapping interest in fiber optic connections for Langweid

Plus

Two companies have teamed up and over the next few weeks will see how much interest in Langweid’s private households is in a fiber optic connection.

Home office or backlog? Top movies on the internet stream or old hams in the watch TV? Video calls with your grandchildren or at home alone? In Langweid there is an opportunity in the coming weeks to expand a pure fiber optic network, through which citizens can surf the Internet at the speed of light.

The first step on the way to a fast fiber optic network has been taken: the two telecommunications providers Deutsche Glasfaser and M-net have signed a cooperation agreement with the local government for the joint project. Now the decision of the citizens of Langweid in favor of one of the two providers is required so that the fiber optic expansion can be implemented.

You can sign a contract with either Deutsche Glasfaser or M-net until May 31st to get a free fiber-optic connection into your house or apartment. However, at least 40 percent of the households that can be connected in Langweid, Stettenhofen and Foret have to participate. If this quota is reached by the key date, nothing stands in the way of network expansion. All households in the connection area are taken into account. Latecomers can also be connected – but then they have to bear the connection costs of currently at least 750 euros themselves.

Virtual information evenings explain what Langweid has to offer

Detailed information about the network expansion and the progress of the project is available on digital information evenings – for the first time on Monday, March 1, at 7 p.m. via the Zoom video chat platform. All households can either use the smartphone app or the website www.deutsche-glasfaser.de/langweid respectively www.m-net.de/langweid dial into the information event.

In addition, employees of the two providers will visit the citizens of the planned expansion area at home and advise them if desired. (THE)
