Her arrival was scheduled for January 10, she decided otherwise… Gaëlle Pommier and Mathieu Honel welcomed Maëlie on the night of January 2. This is the first baby of the year 2021, at Languidic (Morbihan).
Saturday January 2, 2021, at 1 a.m., I wanted to go to the bathroom, as I often do at that time. I felt a first contraction. Then, they followed each other every 5 minutes. At 1:30 am, Mathieu called the hospital who told us to come. Mathieu warmed up the car, it was very cold that night. I went back to the toilet and there, a big contraction prevented me from coming back. As I anticipated the loss of water, I stepped over the tub, I don’t even know how I did. Mathieu called Samu. The Languidic firefighters arrived at our home at 1.55 am to prepare for the arrival of the Smur doctor who was there a quarter of an hour later. Maëlie was born at 2:39 am Everything went very well and yet, I had not considered a home birth.
I was followed at the hospital, I saw a midwife and for the epidural, I was followed by the anesthetist by phone because of the Covid. Everything was scheduled for January 10. This is my first delivery without an epidural, having wished to have it for my two boys: Esteban, 9 years old and Nathéo, 5 years old. They were at their daddy’s house when the little one arrived.
We were surrounded and taken care of by a great team and for Mathieu, it was magical to see his daughter arrive this way. While I was being taken care of, he gave Maëlie a first visit to the house!
In 2020, Languidic counted 90 births. Maëlie is the first baby in 2021.
