Language schools, masks compulsory for teachers closed by November (Overview)

Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev – Chief State Health Inspector

Whether the new measures will be adopted depends on Health Minister Stoycho Katsarov

The share of infected approached 14%

New measures, valid for the whole country, will be proposed by the Chief State Health Inspector Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev next week.

Among them will be the wearing of masks in class to become mandatory not only for students from 5th grade and above, but also for teachers. Now, at a distance from the desks, the teacher may not put on a mask in class.

“Now the observance of this measure is left in the hands of the directors, but given the levels of morbidity that we have already reached, this is unacceptable,” said Kunchev, citing his proposal to 24 Chassa.

The idea was discussed yesterday at a meeting with the Expert Council on Epidemiology, representatives of the RHI and the Departments of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases of Medical Universities.

At least until the end of the month, the state inspector will propose to suspend the work of the language centers, art schools and all others related to extracurricular activities. The aim is to limit the mixing of children from different classes and classes, otherwise the school measures become meaningless.

The restriction will apply not only to students, but also to adult visitors to schools, as we are already at peak values for the latest wave. How long this peak will last cannot be predicted, but with an average of about 340-350 patients per 100,000 people, values in the range of 1,370 can be expected – as is the current incidence in neighboring Serbia, explained Assoc. Kunchev. Whether these proposals will be approved depends on Health Minister Stoycho Katsarov.

After Gabrovo, new measures are expected in Vidin and Montana, which have passed the threshold of 500 patients per 100,000 RHIs in these areas have already sent their proposals to Assoc. Prof. Kunchev, who announced that he would review and approve them.

The share of those infected in Bulgaria reached almost 14% on Wednesday, when the unified information system reported just over 2,500 newly infected. 86.6% of them have not been vaccinated. 5312 are hospitalized, of which 455 are in intensive care units.
