Like Kool and the Gang, there is another gang that roams the streets and sets the night and the dancefloor on fire: it’s Acousteel Gang. These seven steel drum mercenaries will celebrate their 26 years of existence with a festival of friendly groups on July 9 and 10, 2021 at the Parc des Vergers in Langon (Gironde). Reservations are open, beware of the limited gauges due to the sanitary conditions to be respected.
Early nineties
It was in the early 90s that some of the members participated in the creation of one of the first steel bands French. Three years later, they created the Acousteel, an ambulatory steel band, and chose the street, a space for meetings and exchanges as close as possible to their audience, as a field of expression. 26 years old and nearly 900 dates in France, Europe and beyond (Japan, Australia, Indonesiae …) later, theAcousteel Gang has today established its uniqueness in the landscape of brass bands and street arts companies.

The group also has seven creations to its credit: The Convicts, Municipal Laborers (directed by Cie Oposito / Acousteel Gang), In the Calle, L’Acousteel makes its interesting, Melocoton Tour (directed by Fred El Kaïm / AG), Melocoton Tour 2.0 (directed by Fred El Kaïm / AG) and The Acousteel is the beauty! (directed by Fred El Kaïm / AG, IDDAC co-production).
On July 13, 2015, the Gang gathered nearly 1,000 people in Roaillan to celebrate its 20th anniversary with the Compagnie Les Goulus and Bignol Swing.
Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the group’s 25th anniversary, which was to take place in 2020, has been postponed this summer, Friday 9 and Saturday 10 July 2021 at the Parc des Vergers in Langon (Gironde).

We met them on tour in Melbourne, Australia. We have met most of the groups invited to festivals over the past twenty years, they have become friends, pals ”

“We are offering a counterbalance, it’s very festive”
The two historic members of Acousteel Gang claim the group’s “slightly offbeat spirit”.

The group will set up a large stage in the Parc des Vergers for its festival which will be over two days with a concert per evening and brass bands and street arts to animate, a catering (part of which will be carried out by Bernard Faugas du Longin) and drinks on site, in compliance with health standards.
“We are going to occupy the first part of the Parc des Vergers and the amphitheater. The second part of the evening will take place in front of the stage, installed in the middle of the park. Plastic surgeons will also work on the site. “

Crowdfunding
Acousteel Gang is happy to be back in Les Vergers. “We played there for a long time as part of the Atypical Nights festival. “
Their secret to longevity? “What keeps us going from the start is the human bond,” sums up Stéphane Husson. “We set up crowdfunding – until the end of June – to find partners (on helloasso.com: Acousteel Gang celebrates its 26th anniversary). We didn’t want it to be too expensive for the public. And for catering, we want good and cheap. We have the support of the town hall of Langon, the departmental council. The artists and technicians played along and made an effort. “
