“This cancellation breaks my heart,” the president of the Wuhrplatzfest association told 32Today in July. Because the organizing committee started organizing and looking for sponsors too late, this year’s edition of the traditional event had to be canceled at short notice for financial reasons. To ensure that the Wuhrplatz does not remain empty next weekend, other associations are now stepping in and spontaneously organizing an alternative program.
Live music on Friday evening
«Langenthal without Wuhrplatzfest? Hard to imagine!» writes the autonomous cultural center «LaKuZ». On the pétanque court at the «fahrBAR» they are organizing several small concerts on Friday evening – including an after-party in the Chrämerhuus until late into the night. It is no coincidence that the «LaKuZ» is stepping in, because people from the cultural center were also on the organizing committee of the Wuhrplatzfest.

Daydance from Saturday afternoon
To ensure that the Wuhrplatz also has a festive atmosphere on Saturday, the “Insomnia” association is holding a day dance from 2 p.m. with electronic music ranging from electro-swing to psy-trance, mainly from regional DJs. The program on both days will be accompanied by the open-air bistro “fahrBAR” offering daiquiris, mojitos and crêpes.

Both events are free. However, donations are welcome to the artists. And also to the Wuhrplatzfest association. «Instead of paying the entrance fee, please donate something to the Wuhrplatzfest association – so that next year we can hopefully travel between various bars, food stalls, steam baths and stages for several days as usual and as much as we love,” writes the “LaKuZ”.
