Bank container in Langenprozelten explodes: perpetrators can escape – Kripo asks for evidence of witnesses. In Langenprozelten in Lower Franconia, a district of Gemnden am Main in the Main-Spessart district, there was an explosion in a bank container. The police headquarters in Lower Franconia reported on Christmas Eve. The incident took place on the night of Friday (December 24, 2021).

The aim of the hitherto unknown perpetrator was apparently to blow up an ATM. It is currently unclear whether cash was stolen. The perpetrators escaped undetected and left behind property damage that, according to initial estimates, could amount to tens of thousands of euros.

Langenprozelten: Bank container is on fire – police start a major search

After an alarm was triggered at around 2.30 a.m., several patrol crews immediately made their way to the crime scene on Wrzburger Strasse. When the officers arrived after a few minutes, there was a blaze of fire inside the container. The perpetrators, who apparently caused an explosion by means of gas, had fled in an unknown direction before the police arrived.

While the local fire brigade immediately began to extinguish the fire, the operations center of the Lower Franconian police headquarters initiated extensive search measures immediately after the facts became known. The search, which included numerous police patrols from the Lower Franconian police force, forces from neighboring federal states and a police helicopter, has not yet led to the arrest of a suspect.

Whether the perpetrators succeeded in stealing cash is still unclear and is the subject of further investigations, which the Wrzburg criminal police have now taken over.
