This innovative space offers free and open access to IT tools, welcoming everyone aged 12 and above. In 2024 alone, it attracted 2,300 visitors, a testament to its growing impact on the community.
Cyberlan’s primary mission is to reduce the digital divide, providing opportunities for individuals to familiarize themselves with modern technologies. From computers to video games and other resources, the center ensures that users have the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
At the heart of Cyberlan is Stéphane Leblanc, the multimedia facilitator who offers personalized support and group sessions. “cyberlan is a place of exchange where everyone can progress at their own pace, whether you are a novice or more experienced,” emphasizes Françoise Dumont, deputy mayor of Lanester.
A New Initiative: The Tuesday Talk
In addition to its regular offerings, Cyberlan has introduced a new initiative called the Tuesday Talk. This bi-monthly event, held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., provides a platform for informal discussions on the role of digital technology in daily life.“For each meeting, the themes are co-constructed with the workshop participants,” explains Dumont.
The first Tuesday talk, held on January 21, explored the impact of digital technology on employment.Upcoming sessions are scheduled for February 18 and March 18, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., promising engaging conversations on pressing digital issues.
