Landstuhl Regional Medical Center Providing Medical Care for US Citizens Fighting in Ukraine

So far, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center has admitted 14 people, most of whom are Americans who fought in the war on the side of Ukraine. In order not to get involved in a direct confrontation with Russia, the USA prohibits active military personnel from being on the territory of Ukraine (the exception is the security of the US Embassy in Kyiv). However, a number of combat-experienced Americans, mostly special forces veterans, volunteer to assist the Ukrainian armed forces as instructors or combatants.

The exact number of US citizens fighting in Ukraine is unknown, currently it is probably several hundreds, writes NYT. About 20 people have been killed.

Until now, the wounded Americans, like the Ukrainians, were taken to local hospitals, but now the Pentagon has decided to provide some of them with the same medical care as active duty US Army soldiers.
