A federal judge published the judgment approving the bankruptcy agreement to restructure the debts of the pharmaceutical company Landsteiner Scientificfor it to continue operating, a company that, in 2020, agreed with the Russian government to purchase 32 million doses of the Sputnik-V vaccine against covid-19.
The above was disclosed by the Federal Institute of Commercial Bankruptcy Specialists (IFECOM), subsidiary body of the Council of the Federal Judicature (CJF).
The institute pointed out that Saúl Martínez Lira, Second District Judge in Business Insolvency Matters of Mexico City and with Jurisdiction throughout the country, made the resolution public.
Likewise, he pointed out that the agreement presented by the bankruptcy specialist, Gerardo Sierra Arrazola, was achieved with 91.70 percent approval votes and provides for the payment of one hundred percent of its credits to common creditors, as well as to Bancomext and Commercial Banking.
IFECOM highlighted that Landsteiner Scientific is a leading pharmaceutical company in the development, manufacture and drug marketingbiotechnology and other health sector goods for the country.

He explained that the conclusion of the bankruptcy process and this restructuring will allow Landsteiner to continue with its operations and expand its capabilities in the pharmaceutical areas in which it participates such as anesthesia, analgesia, insulin, as well as anti-infective, cardiological, dermatological, gynecological, gastrointestinal and other drugs, “and demonstrates that bankruptcy is a great tool to restructure the liabilities of a company with insolvency problems in a global and orderly manner.”
In December 2021, another federal court admitted the bankruptcy lawsuit against the Mexican pharmaceutical company for processing and issued a series of precautionary measures to prevent the laboratory from being seized or taking any action against its assets.
He Russian Direct Investment Fund issued a statement in September 2020, where it reported that the laboratory would begin to receive the vaccine as of November of the same year.
“We have agreed to deliver a large volume of the Sputnik-V vaccine, which will help 25 percent of the Mexican population to receive access to an immunization safely and effectively,” said the director of the Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev.
