It writes the police in an update at 21 o’clock.
Earlier in the evening, they reported that all the emergency services had moved out to Nordstrand, southeast of Oslo, after a landslide occurred in a residential area.
– It is not a good feeling when you get a phone call about landslides and you know your children are at home and sleeping. But fortunately everything went well, says Lars Håkon Grønning to VG.
He is the editor-in-chief of E24 and was himself at work in the editorial premises in the VG building, when he was informed that a landslide had occurred just above the house where he and his family live.
According to the police, a total of eight people, divided into two families, live in two different housing units in the house that have been hit by soil masses.
Grønning further says that they have been told not to stay at home until Thursday night.
– We’ll see how long it will be. First of all, I’m glad there are no injuries here.
– As of now, it is uncertain how large the extent is, the police wrote when they first reported the incident at 20.00.
About ten minutes later, operations manager Lina Odden in the police told VG that the soil mass had crashed into one or more houses and that several cars had also moved as a result of the landslide.
At 20.25, Odden said that it was a retaining wall of around 17 meters that had collapsed. Shortly afterwards, the 110 exchange wrote that they did not expect further masses to erupt.
– There is a significant amount of mass that has fallen out, and which can be pushed further. The house below is marked by strong vibrations, said operations manager Odden to VG.
But by 9 pm, it seems that the situation is not as dramatic as the emergency services first feared. The wall that fell out was a retaining wall that was to hold soil masses in place. It was not intended to hold a larger construction, the police write on Twitter.
She also says that one house has so far been evacuated, and that the police have received permission from the fire brigade to enter the area to evacuate further.
No injuries have been reported so far.
– Now we have set up barriers. We are working to bring in professionals who must make assessments of whether there may be new landslides and how large the area we have to block off is.
The operations manager tells VG that there are large resources on site.
