A landslide engulfs a medieval monastery in Georgia
Search and rescue operations are underway at the scene.
This Sunday, a landslide and stones almost completely buried the medieval Christian monastery of Shiomgvime, located 30 kilometers from the Georgian capital, Tbilisi.
In the videos posted on social networks, you can see how earth and stones break off and rush in an avalanche towards the monastery, located in a gorge.
Tourists nearby saw the avalanche and managed to get away to a safe distance in time.
According to preliminary data, there were no victims, however, several people could be found under the rubble.
They report that search and rescue operations are being carried out at the scene.
