Landslide Causes Railway Tracks to ‘Suspend’ in Empang Bogor

20 meter high cliff in Empang Village, Kota Bogor landslide and buried 13 people in 5 houses. The landslide caused the Bogor-Sukabumi railway to ‘hang’.

“There are railroad tracks that are hanging due to the landslide. We have communicated this to the Dalops railway section not to use it as a route for train activities starting today,” said Bogor City Police Chief Kombes Bismo Teguh Prakoso at the landslide site Wednesday (15/3/2023 ) early days.

Under the cliff of the rail that collapsed, it was seen that the residents’ houses were buried by landslide material in the form of soil and rocks. The landslide also buried 13 people.

Of the 13 people who were buried, as many as 7 people were successfully evacuated until 02.00 WIB. Of the 7 people evacuated, 2 people died.

As previously reported, a landslide occurred in Empang Village, South Bogor District, Bogor City, hitting 5 houses with 13 people in them. Of the 7 people who had been evacuated, 2 of them died.

“It’s good to say that at around 23.30 WIB, a while ago there was a landslide at this location and hit 5 houses. Then 7 people were successfully evacuated, then out of the 7 people, 1 adult died, 1 toddler died and 1 adult was critical,” said the Kapolresta Bogor City Commissioner Bismo Teguh Prakoso, Wednesday (15/3/2023) early morning at the landslide site.

Bismo said, currently the evacuation process for 6 other people who are still buried under the ruins of houses and landslide materials.

“Then at this time there are still people we are still trying to evacuate,” said Bismo.
