Although the fraudsters’ scheme has been repeatedly published in the media for months, one man from Landsberg According to the police report, after sending the text message “Hello Dad, this is my new number…” and then saving it in WhatsApp with a subsequent conversation, he transferred over 4,000 euros to foreign bank accounts because his daughter allegedly needed to pay bills urgently.

The fraudsters always say that they cannot currently do online banking because their cell phone is lost or broken, but that the bills specified (amount and recipient with IBAN) must be paid urgently, the police say.
