With the Nuremberg Rams, a tricky task awaits the Landsberg X-Press. The hosts mastered this effortlessly and defended second place in the football regional league.
It was clear: one of the two teams would have to take what was perhaps the decisive setback in the fight for the championship title in the Football Regional League South. And that wasn’t the Landsberg X-Press in the end – on the contrary: the hosts caused the Nürnberg Rams’ heaviest defeat so far this season.
Even if the Landsberg X-Press made one or two small mistakes – at the decisive moment the team of head coach Gabriel Chambers was there and won well deserved with 34:10. The guests were only able to penetrate the end zone of the X-Men in the last quarter.
Almost 650 spectators watch the game in the Landsberg sports center
It was an exciting game that the almost 650 spectators were treated to, even though Landsberger led 14:0 at the break: you could never be too sure. It was not easy for the hosts to find a way through the Nuremberg defense, it usually took three attempts to get to the next first down. But that was to be expected, because so far the results of the Rams have mostly been very close – both wins and losses.

After the “walk” at the Munich Cowboys II (61:14) it was down to business against the opponent who arrived third in the table with the same number of points. In the first section, only the X-Men found their way into the opposing end zone – Andreas Borchert scored the touchdown, Hannes Haug provided the extra point. In the second half, too, it was a hard struggle for both teams for every yard.
Only about three minutes before the end, quarterback Lukas Saurwein, who alternated with Brandon Hayes again and again in this position, managed the touchdown with an extra point to make it 14:0. The Landsbergers even marched again, tried the field goal four seconds before the break, but failed.
After the break, the X-Men marched straight back towards the Nuremberg end zone – but got stuck at the 20-yard line. Another attempt was made with a field goal – and what looks relatively easy is very tricky, the attempt failed again. The Denfense held and then it was Bryant Hayes, who made it 21-0 with an extra point from Haug. A few seconds before the end of the quarter, Brandon Watkins managed a touchdown, which was not given due to a penalty – and the attempt at the field goal failed again.
In the last section, Nuremberg managed the touchdown
The guests started the final section with the first touchdown and shortened it to 7:21. So it remained exciting, because Bryant Hayes’ touchdown was not given either – he was briefly out of bounds. But Watkins made everything clear three minutes before the end with the 34:7 – the field goal of the guests 14 seconds before the end to the final score of 34:10 played no role.
The Landsbergers remain in second place in the table. The next home game is already on Saturday, July 15th, then against the Munich Cowboys II.
