McLaren’s Lando Norris won the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, his third triumph of the season and career. He beat Red Bull’s Max Verstappen by more than 20 seconds to cut his lead in the championship to 52 points. Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri was third.
Norris won the Singapore Grand Prix in start-finish style to take the podium for the third time in the last four races. Although he lost the bonus point for fastest lap, he followed up triumphs in Miami and the Netherlands. Verstappen failed to win the eighth race in a row, but finished second and Norris reduced his lead to 52 points. In his 350th race in F1, Hamilton dropped out of the top ten after changing tires.
Norris hit the wall slightly on lap 29, but the damage to his front wing was not serious. Two laps later he changed the tires, he didn’t need a new wing. Piastri took second after Verstappen’s stop. He did not enter the pits until the 39th lap.
The Australian overtook both Hamilton and Russell after the pit stop thanks to fresh tyres. Although Charles Leclerc caught up to Russell, he did not attack and finished fifth. Carlos Sainz celebrated his 200th start with seventh place.
