Lando Norris canceled Thursday’s media engagements for the F1 Brazilian Grand Prix due to suspected food poisoning. McLaren is reportedly keeping Mercedes F1 reserve driver Nick de Vries on hold just in case.
On Thursday, McLaren tweeted that Lando Norris had been ordered by doctors to rest in a hotel due to suspected food poisoning. But for now, he said he expects to be operational as planned on Friday.
However, McLaren has decided to race at AlphaTauri in 2023 if Lando Norris does not recover, but at the moment Nick de Vries, who remains under contract with Mercedes as a reserve driver, is now out and will replace Norris at Interlagos this weekend.
If Nick de Vries takes to the track at Interlagos for McLaren, he will drive for his fourth team this season.
Nick de Vries, 27, enjoyed his FP1 session with Williams in Barcelona, Mercedes at Paul Ricard and Aston Martin in Monza.
However, Nick de Vries made his F1 debut with Williams at the F1 Italian Grand Prix where Alexandre Albon crashed with appendicitis. A phenomenal performance and a ninth place convinced Red Bull to sign De Vries to replace Pierre Gasly at AlphaTauri.
