Landhaus-Maibaum comes from Amstetten this year

LH Mikl-Leitner: A symbol for tradition awareness, cooperation in the country and the way into the future

St.Pölten (OTS) Numerous guests braved the sudden onset of rain this Tuesday afternoon in St. Pölten and met for the traditional maypole erection in the government district. According to Mikl-Leitner, the maypole has three important meanings for Lower Austria: “It is a symbol of the cooperation between the state and its municipalities,” it is donated every year by another municipality, “and this year we are happy about a 24-meter-high maypole from Amstetten. “But the maypole also stands for a sense of tradition and that which connects people in Lower Austria, “in a challenging and fast-moving time in which approaching each other and looking ahead together is a sign against the growing trend of superficiality,” said the governor. Thirdly, the maypole is a “visible symbol for the way to the future”, where it is particularly important to continue to live partnerships between the state, municipalities and cities and “to continue to stand together, stick together and do everything”, explained Mikl-Leitner , “to accompany the people in Lower Austria well through the crisis and thus lead them well into the future.”

Finally, the state governor thanked the state’s company fire brigade under commander Karl Enzinger, “who brought this tree to the government district and prepared and set it up with a lot of commitment and passion.” Mikl-Leitner also thanked the music ensemble for the musical accompaniment to the ceremony of the three Amstetten music associations.

The mayor of Amstetten, Christian Haberhauer, with community representatives, cider barons and baronesses, as well as the presidents of the state parliament Karl Wilfing, Gottfried Waldhäusl and Eva Prischl, deputy governor Stephan Pernkopf, state councilor Ulrike Königsberger- Ludwig, State Office Director Werner Trock, State Audit Office President Edith Goldeband and her deputy Christian Pogats, St. Pölten Deputy Mayor Matthias Adl, numerous members of the Lower Austrian State Parliament and the Chairman of the Staff Committee Johann Zöhling with Deputy Sonja Strauss.
