In 2023, a new compact SUV is ready to break through the market with the restyling of one of its historic models. According to some rumors, in the coming months the way could open for a Defender that is more compact in terms of size and more accessible to everyone in terms of prices. The new Land Rover Defender 2023 in the SUV version it could steal large slices of the market from the historic Jeep brand, which with its rather accessible prices and maintenance costs is depopulating on the roads of the western world.
The design is certainly one of the most appreciable aspects, with squared and clean lines, large wheels and powerful sides. With a length between 4.4 and 4.7 meters it will guarantee enough comfort for passengers, further expanded thanks to the possible adoption of the new platform inherited from the Tata Harrier SUV which is part of the family Jaguar-Land Rover. To satisfy the tastes of the large clientele, various layouts are envisaged, with interiors that are not too sophisticated even if characterized by high quality materials and a respectable level of technology even if not top of the range.
First details of the new Land Rover Defender
As for the engine chapter, the new Land Rover Defender could mount some engines already adopted by the Range Rover Evoque, such as the 160 HP 1.5 mild hybrid petrol engine and the 163 HP 2.0 mild hybrid diesel, up to the more performing 2.0 mild hybrid 250 HP petrol and 204 HP 2.0 electrified diesel. Some of the engines will be combinable both with front-wheel drive than to that whole wheat.
The highlight of the new SUV should be precisely the price which, according to reliable rumors, could be around 30,000 euros for the basic version, up to 60,000 euros for the more performing and equipped versions. With the low cost of the starting edition, the Land Rover brand aims to displace some competitors such as Jeeps which is contracting market shares thanks to the Renegade and Compass models
One is also planned for the future 100% electric Land Rover Defenderdeclined in the three body variants signed 90,110 and 130. The debut is scheduled for 2025 and should mount the MLA Flex platform suitable for hosting electric propulsion. For the moment there are no official technical data, but considering the potential of this MLA platform we can expect a range of around 500 km.
