Range Rover is going to be an electric car – it’s no secret, but the car’s manufacturer, Land Rover, has confirmed for the first time what the car will look like, when the car was tested at low temperatures in Scandinavia. It must be said that the car looks identical to the current Range Rover with an internal combustion engine.
Land Rover has previously said that the electric Range Rover will offer comparable performance to a V8-powered Range Rover. The car was tested in both extreme cold conditions and in the hot desert in the Middle East to ensure the car’s capabilities in real conditions.
The manufacturer is promoting the upcoming machine as “the quietest and most refined Range Rover in history”, promising a new, ultra-modern traction control system, among other goodies. The manufacturer also says that it will use a full power electric drive system developed by them, but no further details have been given yet. If a worthy performance of the V8 engine is already guaranteed, we can expect at least 500 horsepower, which, given the current trends in electric cars, is indeed a very conservative estimate.
It is almost certain that the car will have at least two electric motors, thus ensuring all-wheel drive, but the use of three or four electric motors cannot be ruled out. The car is built on the same MLA platform used to make the internal combustion Range Rover, but Land Rover promises a modern 800V battery system, providing high charging capacity .
