The effort to make the area appealing is rewarded not only for visitors beyond the city limits: Naturgut Ophoven is once again one of 28 institutions nationwide that receives funding from the NRW Ministry of the Environment as an ESD regional center. This supports the educational work in the field of sustainable development (ESD) of the institution, informs the natural asset.
“We are very grateful for the support from the country, which we received for the first time in October 2016. It helps us to carry out many educational offers, ”emphasizes Marianne Ackermann, first chairwoman of the friends’ association, about the state’s financial injection for educational work on the site. Specifically: “This funding supports our event program, the digital offer #naturgutzuhause, the Naturgut Ranger and the conception of new educational programs. A new discovery tour for daycare centers is currently being developed, and a virtual classroom has been developed for the 17 goals for sustainable development. ”In addition, the state campaign“ School of the Future ”in Leverkusen is being looked after by the Naturgut. The ministry launched the funding program. This created a nationwide network of out-of-school learning locations for environmental education, “which is helping to anchor ESD in the educational landscape,” says Ackermann.
